This logo is for the Istaria Publishing brand. The premise is simple, it needed to relate to publishing, Istaria and look good at a very small size.

I choose to go with Istaria's dragon head on a book. I started with the outline of the book and sizing the dragon head on it. I then refined the design of the book, switching my view from close to far often. I choose to do a circlular spot light type shape behind the book, to help it contrast against the book's background. Since I didn't know what color the book the logo was going on I provided two versions of the logo, the second with the black and white switched.

This logo took about 6 hours to complete.
