Dralnok's Doom is a free expansion to Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted. For marketing of the expansion, an event logo was created for promotional materials.

I began by concepting the shilohette of the logo. It was requested that the logo be reminisicent of the original Istaria logo and incorporate a dwarven axe. I came up with a few concepts and decided on the direction I would take.

I was concerned my concept was too bottom heavy, so I modified the design into my first draft. Although I'd call it cute, it didn't have a dwarf feel to it.

Coming up with the actual axe concept is what was most difficult. Dwarven axes tend to be very heavy and have large blades, and proportionally it would unbalance the logo too much. So I had to find a size of an axe that balanced with the text but still felt dwarven. Dralnok was also king of the dwarves in his time, so it needed to be unique and a dwarven king's axe.

I finally found what I felt was a good design for the axe. I then had fun texturing the entire logo. Once I finished the print logo, I created a web and black and white version as well.
