The goal of the game is to turn the entire board the same color. You do this by selecting one of the colors and starting from the top left, every neighboring square with that color will be filled. It makes a lot more sense once you just play around with it..." I came in at the end of the Flood project. The team wanted the gameplay color scheme and buttons to get a major face lift. Since the game is very simple, the graphics needed to stay simple. I wanted to give the buttons some style, so I want with a glossy look. The selection graphic has to overlay ontop of all the buttons, so I made a white and black stroke with a transparent highlight, making the selected button really pop. Finally, it was choosing a color scheme. At first, the design was 7 colors and they were all bright colors. So my initial scheme was a rainbow spectrum of bright colors, but I kept the intensity different, so color-blind people could play the game if they wanted. However, the scheme was not pleasing with seen jumbled in the grid. The next day I choose to take a red, white and blue approach to the color palette. We had gone down to 6 colors and I choose the first 4 colors to contrast very well, and the last two to be less contrasting, as they are added in at higher difficulties. |
